Happy Birthday, Golden Girl!

26 on the 26th -- that makes this Layne's Golden Birthday!  To be honest, I'd never heard of this whole golden birthday thing until a few months ago -- but this was apparently a big year because Layne and Denise were both celebrating their Golden Birthdays!

So Saturday we took the Golden Girl to the Pantages to see "In the Heights".  Our morning started with Layne coming to my house to get ready.  I found this little top for her that I thought was perfect for her golden day, so she came over to put it on.  She brought her bargain find of the week with her -- this pair of gold shoes -- which she scored for only $5.
Wow - only $5 you say?  Well, look a little closer...
Not bad if you only want to wear one at a time!
We had originally planned to leave town at 9:00 -- but we waited around for the shoe store to open at 10:00 so that she could exchange one of those rights for a left.
"In the Heights" was FANTASTIC!  We splurged and bought tickets in the orchestra pit -- and it was so worth it.  We love going to the theatre!
A few weeks ago I cleaned out my closet and came across a box of keepsakes.  I found a few "treasures" and I thought this would be the perfect time to share.  These are a few of Layne's writings I saved over the years.  I'm not sure if you'll think they are as funny as we did, but here goes.  The thing that's so funny about this first one is that she now HATES cats.  This was apparently written before she was attacked by a wild cat in our back yard one day.
This next one -- well, all I can think of is that apparently the Tooth Fairy didn't show up for a few nights... that did happen occasionally at our house.  We told the kids it was because we lived so far out in the country that she sometimes had a hard time finding our house...

And this last one -- oh, what can I say?  Poor thing is the middle child -- sandwiched between two boys.  I have no idea what he did to make her so angy!

Yes, that does say "devil".
Still makes me laugh to read these.
We're waiting until Friday for the official birthday dinner -- so that Danny can join us.
HAPPY GOLDEN BIRTHDAY, LAYNE!  I Love You!

 Numbers 6:24-26

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.
