Easter at the Krause House

We had a wonderful day on Easter this year.  For me, it was the best Easter Day we've had in 5 years.  Easter was my mom's favorite holiday -- and she did it big.  She started on Good Friday with a tea party for the girls (granddaughters).  She made special cookies, the girls wore their Easter dresses and they had big decorated hats that mom had made.
On Saturday, we would all meet at mom's late morning and decorate eggs and make food for Sunday. Mom heated her swimming pool for Easter weekend, so no matter what the weather was like -- rain or shine -- the kids were in the pool from Saturday morning until Sunday evening -- breaking only long enough to eat, sleep and go to church.  By Sunday evening, they were completely shriveled when we finally dragged them out of the pool.
Mom went to be with the Lord five years ago and holidays for those first few years after she died were very hard.  Then Layne's life took a definite turn we weren't expecting the day before Easter 2008 and the day became hard for a new reason.  It's impossible to describe how you can feel so grateful for what Jesus Christ did for us by dying on the cross, yet still find it difficult to celebrate because of life's circumstances.  But God is good and our family is healing -- and we had a wonderful Easter celebration this year.

Avery was totally into the whole Easter Egg Hunt.  It took her all of 30 seconds to figure out there was candy in those eggs -- too cute!

And this is how you get the big kids to hunt Easter Eggs...

We had a great day -- lots of fun!  Silly me -- no group shot!
