Seems like getting there is always an adventure. There's just always something to deal with -- car trouble, boat problems, trailer repairs -- but I guess that's the way it goes when you have a 30-year-old trailer and a 50-year-old boat. Well, this year was no different! Andrew & Jaclyn came to Bakersfield the weekend we left so that Andrew and I could trade cars. This would allow me to drive his truck and pull the boat; Danny would drive his truck and pull the trailer. Let's just say that a new fuel pump for Andrew's truck, a Sunday mechanic, and $450 later and we were finally on our way!
Yes, getting there may be hectic sometimes, but once you get there, get the trailer parked, the boat launched and camp set up -- it's all worth it! For the first time since Andrew was born, Danny and I spent a few days up there without kids. We arrived on Sunday and the rest of our gang didn't come until Wednesday.
I don't usually fish. I'm perfectly happy to lay across the front of the boat and read a book, do a Sudoku puzzle, or just watch everyone else fish. It's totally relaxing and gives me much joy! But this year, since we had no kids for my husband to fish with at the beginning of the week, he wanted me to fish -- so I fished. I caught 5 fish on Monday and on Tuesday, I was the fishing queen! I reeled them in one after another -- it was quite fun.

It looks like you had a great time Colette. Just the 2 of you for a few days, wow! I'm glad you got a vacation in before your surgery. Take care, Gail
