Mission Trip - Day 4

Well, today was our last day of service. We started out the morning by going downtown and finding a homeless person that we could invite to breakfast. We found a guy named Eddie and took him to McDonald's. He was very chatty and it was interesting to hear his story. We finished breakfast and prayed for him. It was neat to see how much easier it was for the kids to approach and talk to a stranger today compared with Monday.
After breakfast we walked to the library and found a quiet corner where Susan led us in an awesome devotional time.
From the library we went to the Midnight Mission where we served lunch to 507 people. Just before we started serving, Mr. T dropped in to make a donation. He and I took a picture together -- I'll post it when I get home. Funny -- most of the kids didn't know who he was. Anyway, this mission has a recovery program for men -- awesome facility.
We finished off the afternoon with a few hours at the after-school program with the kids that we have come to love in just a few days. We were sad that we would not be coming back to them.
Dinner tonight was at an Armenian restaurant. For me, my least favorite of the week. After dinner we went to Griffith Observatory for our debrief. A pretty cool place to wrap things up while looking out over the whole city.
We ended the night by treating the kids to Cold Stone.
It's been a great week. I'll post pics when I get home.

Mr. T..... that is awesome. The fact that I know who he is even makes me feel old. Thanks for all of your posts this week. I have enjoyed reading them and love hearing about these kids experiencing something totally out of their comfort zone!
