A New Friend

Meet my new friend -- her name is Bernina.  She was a gift from my late Grandma and my wonderful husband!  With hubby pretty much strapped to studying and doing homework on the nights we are home, I needed a friend to keep me company :)  After a short summer break, he will be taking Hebrew in the fall -- I have a hunch that Berni and I could be spending lots of time together.

I just brought her home last night -- and I spent the evening sampling all the stitches (70 of them).  I'm already in love!  Sort of like going from the Volkswagen bug to the brand new Mustang when I was much younger.  My mom bought me the beginner Singer on my first wedding anniversary.  I used it until I bought Layne a beginner Sears machine when she was in college.  That Sears machine sewed  so much nicer than my old Singer, that Layne soon found herself having to borrow her own machine every time she wanted to sew.
This baby sews so quietly that hubby didn't even have to turn the TV volume up.  Did I mention that it doesn't bounce when you sew fast?   And probably most important is that I sewed all night and wasn't tempted to say bad words even once!  I'm still looking for the reverse button (I'm quite sure they forgot to put it on my machine) and I haven't figured out the needle threader yet (I know -- a needle threader!), but I will!  Tonight I'm sewing a cover for the ping-pong table.  Kind of a boring project, but I'm still avoiding the valance for my sitting room.

You should talk with Jenny about her friend that she got a few months back. :) She loves her friend too!

I LOVE my bernina too. It's the best money I ever spent. The reverse is the panel just above the needle with an upwards arrow on it. It looks like part of the machine but it pushes in.

Jenny's right. The reverse is on the opposite side of the "Bernina" logo. Enjoy. That's a terrific machine!
