Happy Birthday, Layne -- Fabulous Daughter!

This is the first official mention of Layne on my blog – know why? Because she’s just like her dad! When I told her I had started a blog, her initial response was almost identical to My Wonderful Husband’s – something like, “I don’t want to see my name mentioned on that thing.” Oh, the two of them are like two peas in a pod! Honestly, it’s kind of scary sometimes! But today is Layne’s birthday – how can I NOT mention her in my blog?
Twenty-five years ago we were greeted with this tiny little bundle of joy. Having a daughter has been more fulfilling than I ever imagined. We’ve always had what I would consider a great relationship and I have counted it nothing but a blessing and a privilege to be her mom, but the last year has taken us to a completely different level. I have to say that I think she has taught me more than I have or will ever teach her. What an awesome young woman of God she is!
Layne has taught me what it means to be obedient to God – even when the world around us is willing and eager to justify otherwise. She has taught me the real meaning of love – patient love, kind love, humble love, unconditional love, long-suffering love, unselfish love, unwavering love, tough love. Her maturity in Christ is beyond her years. Layne’s steadfast faith and obedience have been an inspiration to me. She has no idea of what a role model she has been to me – or how great an impact her unspoken life testimony is having on others. She may look like a tiny little thing on the outside, but she is a very big, strong woman in my eyes! Fabulous Daughter – what a blessing you are!
Layne -- I know God has plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future, and I’m asking Him to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within you! This is the look I got when I pulled out my camera --
and she said, "Oh, great -- I know where this is going!"

How thankful we are for good friends! Happy Birthday, Layne!
We Love You!!
